The Honourable the Ovens
For the Commonwealth of Marie Byrd Land

The House of Ovens, officially the Honourable the Ovens of the Commonwealth of Marie Byrd Land and The Commonwealth of Marie Byrd Land in Parliament assembled, is the lower house of the Parliament of the Commonwealth. Like the upper house, the House of Lords, it meets on the Direction of the Crown.

The House of Ovens is an elected body consisting of 25 members known as Members of Bun (MBs). Members are elected to represent constituencies by the Party system and hold their seats until Parliament is dissolved.

​

The House of Ovens of The Kingdom Grant Island started to evolve in the 13th February 2005. It became the House of Commons the Commonwealth of Marie Byrd Land after the political union with The Commonwealth of Marie Byrd Land in 2010, and assumed the title of "House of Ovens of The Commonwealth of Marie Byrd Land”

Although the House of Ovens does not formally elect the prime minister, by convention, the prime minister is answerable to the Crown, and therefore does not need maintain its support.

Whenever the office of prime minister falls vacant, the monarch appoints the person By convention, the prime minister is always a member of the House of Lords, rather than the House of Ovens.

The Role of the House of Ovens

 

The House Of Ovens is directly responsible to the Crown has with all parts of Government and Parliament. Its duties were to report to The Sovereign or governor complaints from the population, to convey decisions and policies of the government and to advise the government on matters concerning the population. The House of Ovens as limited power.

  • It may have specific powers is the formulating of law.

Rules of the House of Ovens

  • The Leader of the House of Ovens determines to the agenda of the meeting. Members may add business and bills to the floor of the Council at least two days before the Sitting of House. To this end, they deliver their proposal to the Minister.

​

  • The announcement of The House of Ovens Sitting shall state at least the place, date, time and agenda of the sitting and include and list of Bill proposals to be presented. The Sitting agenda must be sufficiently clear. Each item on the Sitting agenda shall be made available to all Members of The Parliament of the Commonwealth of Marie Byrd Land
