Welcome to the Sport @ Real Terryo June 2026 Sports Round-Up.

June has been another action-packed month across the sporting world. From managerial changes in football and the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026 to Formula 1 races and major wrestling events, there has been plenty to talk about.

In this month's review, we'll look back at the biggest stories we covered throughout June, share some of our thoughts on the month's biggest moments, and preview what you can expect from Sport @ Real Terryo during July.

⚽ Football

Summer 2026 Transfer Window

The Summer Transfer Window officially opened during June, and clubs have already begun strengthening their squads ahead of the 2026/27 season.

While several notable transfers have already taken place, I believe the biggest deals will happen once the FIFA World Cup concludes, with many clubs waiting to assess player performances before making their final moves.

Premier League

There was plenty of movement in the managerial market throughout June.

  • Marco Silva left Fulham on 2nd June.

  • Liverpool appointed Andoni Iraola as their new manager on 4th June.

  • Kieran McKenna departed Ipswich Town on 10th June.

  • Crystal Palace appointed Pierre Sage on 15th June.

  • The 2026/27 Premier League fixtures were released on 19th June.

  • Ipswich Town appointed Gary O'Neil on 23rd June.

  • Manchester City appointed Enzo Maresca as their new manager on 29th June.

  • Nottingham Forest ended the month by dismissing Vítor Pereira on 30th June.

It has already been an incredibly busy summer for Premier League clubs, and there's still plenty more to come before the new season kicks off.

EFL

Sky Bet Championship

The Championship also saw several managerial changes.

  • Blackburn Rovers appointed Tony Mowbray.

  • Wolverhampton Wanderers parted company with Rob Edwards before appointing César Peixoto.

  • Watford appointed Alessio Dionisi.

  • The Championship fixtures for the new season were released on 25th June.

Sky Bet League One

League One clubs also prepared for the new campaign.

  • Dave Challinor left Stockport County.

  • Jim McNulty arrived from Rochdale to become Stockport's new manager.

  • Oxford United dismissed Matt Bloomfield before appointing Aaron Ramsey as manager.

  • League One fixtures were released on 25th June.

Sky Bet League Two

League Two experienced another busy month.

  • Salford City dismissed Karl Robinson before appointing Peter Cklamovski.

  • Rochdale appointed Ian Watson.

  • Christian Fuchs left Newport County.

  • Rotherham United appointed Alex Bruce.

  • The League Two fixtures were also released on 25th June.

🌍 FIFA World Cup 2026

The biggest sporting event of the year finally got underway, and it certainly hasn't disappointed.

There have already been plenty of entertaining matches, dramatic results and several surprises.

Group Stage Highlights

Some of the biggest results included:

  • Germany's incredible 7-1 victory over Curacao.

  • Sweden's emphatic 5-1 win over Tunisia.

  • Canada's stunning 6-0 victory over Qatar.

  • Portugal's dominant 5-0 win over Uzbekistan.

  • Belgium's 5-1 win over New Zealand.

Several results also caught me completely by surprise.

Brazil drawing 1-1 with Morocco in their opening game was unexpected, showing just how competitive Morocco have become on the world stage.

Spain being held to a 0-0 draw by Cape Verde was another huge surprise, while Portugal's opening 1-1 draw with DR Congo certainly wasn't a result I predicted.

Perhaps the biggest shock of the group stage came on Matchday Three when Ecuador defeated Germany 2-1. I genuinely didn't expect Germany to lose that match.

At the conclusion of the group stage, the following nations were eliminated:

  • Haiti

  • Türkiye

  • Tunisia

  • Jordan

  • Panama

  • Czech Republic

  • Qatar

  • Curacao

  • Iraq

  • Uruguay

  • Saudi Arabia

  • New Zealand

  • Uzbekistan

  • South Korea

  • Iran

  • Scotland

Round of 32

The knockout stage also began before the month ended.

Canada defeated South Africa 1-0 to book their place in the Round of 16.

Brazil recovered from going behind to defeat Japan 2-1.

Paraguay produced one of the biggest upsets of the tournament by eliminating Germany on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Morocco continued their incredible tournament by knocking out the Netherlands in another penalty shootout.

Norway defeated Ivory Coast 2-1, while France comfortably beat Sweden 3-0.

The remaining Round of 32 fixtures will be played during July.

🏎 Formula One

Three exciting Grands Prix took place during June.

  • Kimi Antonelli won the Monaco Grand Prix.

  • Lewis Hamilton claimed victory at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona.

  • George Russell won the Austrian Grand Prix.

The Formula One championship continues to produce exciting racing every weekend.

🤼 Professional Wrestling

WWE

June was another eventful month for WWE.

Zaria captured the NXT Women's North American Championship on NXT.

The Street Profits became the new WWE World Tag Team Champions on Raw.

WWE also presented two premium live events during June.

Night of Champions

Night of Champions crowned the new King and Queen of the Ring.

The biggest surprise of the night was Sami Zayn becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion, a result I honestly didn't see coming.

NXT Great American Bash

NXT also delivered another enjoyable premium live event, including the crowning of a brand-new NXT Women's Champion.

Meanwhile, WWE has continued announcing matches for the two-night SummerSlam event taking place in August.

AEW

AEW continued producing weekly episodes of Dynamite and Collision throughout June.

Several wrestlers departed following the expiration of their contracts.

The company also held another successful Forbidden Door pay-per-view alongside NJPW, continuing one of wrestling's most popular annual crossover events.
