A man has been charged with the murder of GP Dr Hannah Terry, whose body was discovered at a property in Dersingham, Norfolk.

Mark Cain, 45, of Fern Hill, Dersingham, has been charged with murder following a police investigation into the death of Dr Terry, who was also known as Hannah Cain.

Dr Terry was found at a property in Fern Hill on Sunday.

Cain has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The charge is an allegation and will now be dealt with through the criminal courts.

Police investigation continues

Norfolk Police launched an investigation after Dr Terry's body was discovered.

A police cordon has remained around the property while detectives continue their enquiries into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that a decision had been made to prosecute Cain for murder following the police investigation.

Michael Devaney, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said the prosecution had worked closely with Norfolk Police and that its thoughts remained with Dr Terry's family.

Tributes from patients and colleagues

Dr Terry was a member of the practice team at Grimston Medical Centre, which has temporarily closed because of the circumstances affecting the practice team.

Flowers, a teddy bear and messages from patients have been left outside the surgery.

One card described patients as being shocked and saddened by the news.

The Norfolk and Waveney Local Medical Committee, which represents NHS GPs, also paid tribute to Dr Terry.

A spokesperson described her as a dedicated GP who provided excellent care to her patients.

‘Universally liked’

Dr Pallavi Devulapalli, a GP and former colleague of Dr Terry, said she was devastated by the news.

The two doctors previously worked together at The Hollies Surgery in Downham Market.

Devulapalli described Dr Terry as someone who was easy to work with and said she was widely liked by colleagues.

She said Dr Terry was a good GP who patients could trust and praised the care she provided.

Patients remember a caring GP

Tributes have also come from patients who knew Dr Terry through her work as a family doctor.

Charis-Mai Ellis, 25, said Dr Terry had been her family GP and remembered her for giving patients time and showing empathy and understanding.

She described the news of her death as heartbreaking.

Other tributes left outside the surgery have described Dr Terry as a kind and caring neighbour, friend and devoted mother.

A community in mourning

The death of a local GP has left patients, colleagues and members of the Dersingham community facing the loss of someone who played an important role in their lives.

While police continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding Dr Terry's death, those who knew her have been paying tribute to her professional dedication and the personal connection she had with patients.

Cain is due to appear before magistrates on Wednesday.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The murder charge against Mark Cain is an allegation. He has not yet been tried or convicted of the offence.
