Rikki Hall, 33, appeared at Bristol Crown Court to enter pleas to four charges connected to his time as a police constable.

Hall, of Tennyson Way, Swansea, denied two counts of rape and one count of intentional strangulation of a woman. The charges relate to an alleged incident on 3 February 2024.

He also denied misconduct in public office, relating to an allegation that he engaged in sexual activity with a member of the public whom he had met while carrying out welfare and safeguarding checks.

The case follows an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The watchdog confirmed that Hall resigned from South Wales Police while the investigation was ongoing.

A trial is scheduled to begin at Bristol Crown Court on 28 February 2028 and is expected to last 10 days.

Hall has been released on conditional bail.

The legal process

Hall has denied all four charges. The allegations have not been proven, and the case will be determined through the criminal justice process at trial.

The case raises questions about alleged misconduct by a serving police officer and the safeguards expected when officers carry out welfare and safeguarding duties.

The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
