Cardiff City Defender Krystian Bielik Banned After Portsmouth Incident

Cardiff City defender Krystian Bielik has been banned for two matches and fined £10,000 by the Football Association following an incident involving a Portsmouth supporter.
The 28-year-old Poland international admitted a charge of misconduct relating to the incident during Cardiff's 2-0 Championship defeat at Portsmouth on 5 September.
Bielik will now miss Cardiff's Championship trip to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday and the home fixture against Watford on Tuesday, 13 October.
Incident at Fratton Park
The incident occurred during the second half when Bielik went towards the crowd to retrieve the ball.
Footage circulated on social media appeared to show the Cardiff defender becoming involved in a physical confrontation with a supporter.
There were also claims from supporters that the fan had been grabbed around the throat.
Cardiff head coach Brian Barry-Murphy said after the match that Bielik had been slapped in the face.
The FA subsequently charged Bielik with acting improperly around the 71st minute of the match.
He admitted the charge.
FA confirms two-match suspension
An independent FA Regulatory Commission imposed the two-match suspension and £10,000 fine following a hearing.
The FA said written reasons for the decision would be published in due course.
The disciplinary action is separate from the police investigation into the incident.
Police investigation concluded
Hampshire Police investigated the incident after the confrontation at Fratton Park.
The investigation concluded with no further action, following an out-of-court resolution that included an apology from Bielik to the supporter.
Both supporters involved in incidents during the aftermath were ejected from the stadium.
Another supporter was accused of throwing a ball at Cardiff defender Perry Ng.
Portsmouth reaction
Portsmouth manager John Mousinho apologised to Cardiff's players following the match.
In the days afterwards, Mousinho said he was "absolutely furious" about the position he believed he had been placed in over the incident.
The episode has now resulted in FA disciplinary action against Bielik, despite the separate police investigation being closed.
Cardiff face two-match Bielik absence
Bielik's suspension means Cardiff will have to cope without an experienced defender for two important Championship fixtures.
His absence begins with the trip to Blackburn before Cardiff return home to face Watford.
The FA's full written reasons are expected to provide further detail about the circumstances behind the sanction.
For now, Bielik has accepted the punishment and will serve a two-match ban and £10,000 fine.
