May 2020 Around The World Today Series 3 Episode 11 By Terry D

It is May 2020 Terry offers a talks about of some of the goings on and childish behaviour happening in politics at the moment with in the united Kingdom and Untied States.

So over the last few weeks I have found myself being even more angry at the political games being played over the plague that we know as Coronavirus or Covid 19.

In the United kingdom with Devolution what is effectively federalisation in all but name if you are seeing this from out side the United Kingdom. We have a Government in Westminster and than 4 Home Countries and then 4 Crown Dependencies and 14 other British Overseas Territories (BOTs) or United Kingdom Overseas Territories (UKOTs), what we have is that when the United Kingdom Government acts in a matter it also speaks for all 21 nations but they only really run England.

Ways to Listen

So Devolution differs from federalism in that the devolved powers of the subnational authority may be temporary and are reversible, ultimately residing with the central government. Thus, the state remains de jure unitary. Legislation creating devolved parliaments or assemblies can be repealed or amended by central government in the same way as any statute. In federal systems, by contrast, sub-unit government is guaranteed in the constitution, so the powers of the sub-units cannot be withdrawn unilaterally by the central government (i.e. without the consent of the sub-units being granted through the process of constitutional amendment).

The sub-units therefore have a lower degree of protection under devolution than under federalism.

Now In the Untied Kingdom we have as you can see different membership types and rights so I have a Idea let's just federalize the united kingdom there are many arguments for and against for this but from what I have seen from the Central Government has been childish and Petty to say the leased and to say the worse it has to be culpable negligence. So the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson delivers a recoded ten minute television address to the whole United Kingdom that only really applied to one of the Twenty one members of the United kingdom or even one of the four home Countries first the removed the lockdown measures in England and framing it as a whole united kingdom approach then you are not willing to listen to the 3 other members first ministers, and devolved Governments or scientific advisers, after all it was a Conservative Government that split up the united kingdoms public health advisers in 1962. But then you have the report the put out the day after now How can you trust the government when in only the second line of the document it states 'Like the rest of the world, we have paid a heavy price'?

It should read 'Like other countries that failed to act quickly and decisively, we have paid a heavy price'. No amount of papering over the cracks is going to give the government a 'Get out of jail free card'. The country is fed up with spin and dishonesty. The public are not stupid. We can see through it. We know what happens in other countries and we know how many have died here.

Just say sorry, we got it wrong, but we now have a credible plan. Then you might get a little more respect when you ask for the support of the public.

Then we have Boris’s afternoon trip to Parliament to lets our democratically elected house but hay what do you expect from a government who seam to have started on rock ground when the Speaker smacks down the Prime Minister for not coming to the House of Commons before talking to the country but Boris approach seams to be a common sense approach but Here's the thing about "common sense". Jacob Reese-Mogg blamed the victims of Grenfell for not having common sense. So you accept people have no common sense and will die because of it. Since it is the first responsibility of government in a democratic society is to protect and safeguard the lives of its citizens, this simply doesn't fit.

But hay from this lot in power who also seam to be Government by Twitter so taken a page out of Donald trumps play book but this time putting a British twist to it and writing a tissue of lies and can easily be disproven by looking at what has been put out to the media in the past few months or even in some cases years with Brexit. Or The B word so to me right now its

like people advocating for self imposed trade sanctions at a time of the worst global recession any of us would have seen really are at best fiscally illiterate and probably a bit more vindictive than That.

Actively wanting to damage the economy during a recession is crazy. But once again from my last Podcast “Populism”.

What is really a travesty to my is when you Prime Minister or in fact any Government Official who comes out and uses the words we have been acting where the science has taken us and that we locked down when we needed I am remined of that governments original plan of Herd immunity you know Herd immunity that never went away. The government told us what they wanted to do and it back fired. They then carried on with herd immunity under the cover of walking Tom major and clap for the NHS. Then they coat it with lies about getting PPE but don't do it. All the while Making it seem as if it's your fault, the people Of the UK if the virus spreads, because you where not alert enough. Don't be fooled, this country has never been in lock down.

Its been in a "slightly close the door but if you want to pop out you can system" made to look like a lock down while they know people Will die.

Economy issues and now thinning of a country that's been abused for 10 years.

But any way to day they are trying deflect from the fact they haven’t been looking after care homes. It is a worrying site to see when you have a Government that has been acting so recklessly with peoples lives. But hay from a Government that has just brought in a The immigration health surcharge is going to be increased to £624 a year in October, with parents also expected to pay £470 a year for each dependent child but still expect immigrants to work in our Health Service in this time of Coronavirus or Covid 19. Is just ridiculous. There have been grate similarities in Boris Johnson's handling and Donald Trumps like they are a watching what works for each other. So again we are living in the year 2020 we still talking about Brexit we still have a Government that is playing fast and lose with Peoples lives but this time is in a Worldwide pandemic. You know for the last 10 weeks in the United Kingdom that there has been no test and trace system. Now taking the government’s own war like language and terminology could you see a general or other war time leader not having the estimated numbers for the forces they are opposing then you are wrong so this is why Track and Trace should if always been done from day one.
